March 2024 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Since the onset of the war, I've been constantly asked, “What is Rozana doing now?”, my response has been that while some of our activities briefly paused and others were adapted, not even one of our eight projects ever came to a standstill.

It is with this sense of hope and determination that we offer the inaugural quarterly newsletter for 2024. We are presenting the December launch of our Jerusalem Palliative Care initiative, thoughts from our ‘Train Local Sustain Local’ Palestinian fellow, Dr. Ruba Rizik, who began her training in January, and an update on our in-person training that took place within the ATLS framework in February.

And in honor of International Women’s Day, we recognize our Women4Women team and communities, female staff, volunteers, and partners.

Our health diplomacy efforts have not gone unnoticed. Rozana has been featured in prominent media outlets including PBS USA, Time Magazine, The Deepak Chopra Podcast, ABC Australia, SBS Australia, and The Australian. I’m thrilled to share an adapted version of the Deepak Chopra interview. These platforms are amplifying our message of resilience and cooperation because Rozana is what ‘hope’ looks like.

As we approach the season of renewal and reflection, we extend a Ramadan Kareem, a Joyous Easter, and Happy Passover to our supporters and to communities worldwide.

Thank you for your dedication to the vision of a healthier, more peaceful future for all.

My very best,

Ronit Zimmer

CEO, Project Rozana

Strengthening Pediatric Care

My name is Dr. Ruba Rizik. I am from Hizme, Palestine. I completed my medical studies at Al Quds University in Abu Dis, and my pediatric residency at Al-Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem. Empowering Women on International Women's Day:
Rozana's Women4Women Team's Impact in Times of Crisis

Amid the current escalation of violence, economic hardship and movement difficulties in the West Bank, Rozana's Women4Women team is experiencing a surge in demand for their services. The team has seen a more than threefold increase in patients seeking their care since the conflict began.

Responding to this urgent need, Rozana made a strategic investment in a highly robust ultrasound machine, enhancing the team's capacity to provide essential healthcare to women in need.

This International Women's Day, our Women4Women team's impactful work serves as a reminder of the strength found in women’s collective action and strength.
